  • Myeongdong Theater, Chongdong Theater We welcome all of you to our homepage.
  • The Myeongdong-Chongdong Foundation, Inc. sets sail with upon its second launching with Chongdong Theater, oriented toward the traditional arts, and Myeondong Theater, newly re-opened with a focus on the theatrical arts.
  • For the last 15 years, Chongdong Theater has introduced outstanding performance works from various fields and made our own culture accessible to tourists with its traditional arts performances. Challenging the prejudice that performance venues are inaccessible places and with high admission thresholds, Chondong Theater has established itself as a comfortable and relaxing shelter for enjoying culture in the heart of the city and is now setting the foundation for a new leap toward the future, thereby seeking to become Korea’s representative venue for the traditional arts that will develop and disseminate our valuable traditional arts among our citizens and across the globe.
  • Myeongdong Theater served as the cradle of Korea’s performing arts as the National Theater of Korea from 1957 to the mid 1970s, and hence elicits fond nostalgia among Korea’s artists and even ordinary citizens. As Myeongdong Theater re-opens in its restored building in June of this year, we ask for your warm encouragement and valu’able advice so that we may successfully fulfill its mission of pioneering and developing the future of Korea’s theatrical arts.
  • In pursuit of our goal of popularizing, globalizing and improving the quality of our performing arts, we promise you to constantly listen closely to the voice of all of you, our valued audience, and we will serve you with emotionally moving stages of high integrity created through the lifelong devotion of our outstanding, passionate and talented artists. We again ask for your generous support and keen interest in our efforts this year, so that we may not neglect anything as we seek to set a firm footing for our two theaters, launched with such promising brand powers.
